The Hidden Highlights of Broadway: Times Square and Theater District Tour
- Explore Broadway with a guide who has first-hand experience! The Broadway tours are led by actors and theater insiders
- Visit the famous icons of Broadway, from Times Square to the most important theaters
- Explore hidden gems like Shubert Alley, hearing stories and scandals from behind the curtains
This Broadway tour is designed to take you beyond the billboards and bright lights with a local guide (a Broadway insider!), and immerse you in the history of America’s most famous thoroughfare. You'll walk through Shubert Alley, see some of the most famous theaters, peek into Sardis, and learn a few unexpected things about Times Square. Most importantly though, you’ll hear stories from a real Broadway insider about what life behind the curtains is really like. All of the guides are Broadway actors, producers, script-writers and crew, with a wealth of stories to draw from (some of which you’ll hardly believe…) This experience is great for both theater enthusiasts and first-time visitors who want to see behind the spectacle and learn about the people and events that created Broadway and Times Square. This tour begins in the heart of Times Square under the statue of the famous songwriter George M. Cohan. From here your expert guide will take you back in time to the earliest days of the neighborhood. As you pass landmarks like the theaters on 45th street, Sardis Restaurant and Shubert Alley, you’ll discuss how Broadway rose, fell, then rose again under the bright lights of the entertainment industry. Your guide will also teach you some fun facts about the most famous attractions in the area, like how many lights are on the New Years Eve Ball, and how much power it takes to keep all those video screens running around the clock.
