This full day tour brings out all the best bits of Sardinia. Whether it's history, culture or views you're after, you'll be satisfied on all counts as you take the famous Green Train across the Sardinian wilderness to Tempio Pausania, then board the bus to Nuraghe Majore and visit an ancient olive tree, with lunch served in between.
After pick-up from your hotel, it's across the countryside to hop on the ‘Trenino Verde', or Green Train, at Arzachena, in the northeast of the island. Once you're settled, keep an eye out the window as you trundle through valleys, vineyards, cork oak forests and typical Gallura countryside. There'll be a quick pit-stop at Lake Liscia before you arrive in Tempio Pausania. You'll have free time to amble around the town, one of the oldest in Sardinia.
Next, you'll head to Nuraghe Majore, an ancient dwelling dating back to 1600BC. Tuck into a light lunch, then take a look at an ancient olive tree – believed to be at least 3,000 years old – near the hamlet of Luras.
