Hike through Europe's largest urban forest in this private walking tour which will have you visiting a variety of historical and nature sights. From traditional wooden buildings and hilltop view points, to pristine lakes and enough berries to last an entire holiday, this is an experience not to be missed.
Your journey begins with a stunning train ride up the hills, starting at sea level and arriving at nearly 500 meters above the city with views of the fjord below. From there you embark on your hike starting with a steep climb through the Oslo "marka", a dense forest which is home to about 2000 kilometers of hiking paths.
After making your way through dirt paths and rocky passages, you will arrive to the Vettakollen viewpoint where you will be rewarded with one of the best views in Oslo. This is the perfect stop for a panoramic lunch (bring your own or purchase along the way at a café in a local forest cabin), after which you will continue your walk through the forest until you reach the shores of Sognsvann.
This is one of Oslo's prettiest lakes and is perfect for a swim, so don't forget to bring your swimsuit and towel. The tour ends here and you will have a metro stop nearby so you can easily return to the city center. The terrain in this hike is very hilly and you will be going up and down for most of the tour, so a good fitness level is required. Good trail shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
