WHAT TO EXPECT
Volterra was the capital of the Etruscan empire but it was also very important during the Roman Empire as well as in the Middle Ages.
In town, you will admire the Roman Theater, Etruscan gates, Medici Fortress, the beautiful Cathedral of S. Maria Assunta and the unique Bishop’s palace.
Then you will visit an alabaster laboratory, where you will have the chance to see many beautiful art crafts examples made in special chalk-stone.
Also, the center of Volterra is rich of many important remains, like the wonderful Roman amphitheater and the Etruscan gates of the ancient wall of the town.
The tour will continue with a panoramic stop in the hills around Volterra to visit the open-air amphitheater created by Andrea Bocelli, the famous and appreciated Italian tenor (“Teatro del Silenzio”).
