Relatively short on time, but wish to make the most of your day? Look no further, this tour is made for you.
The sights of the Golden Circle are not just spectacular and unique but hold great historical significance as well.
After your pick-up in Reykjavik, you will head to your first stop the Þingvellir National Park. This is the area, where the first parliament of Iceland was established in 930 AD, making it one of the oldest in Europe. Furthermore, the National Park is located in a split between the European and the North-American tectonic plates, therefore you will be able to walk from one continent to another.
Next stop, the world-famous Geysir! Did you know that this sight named all the other geysers in the world? Even though Geysir itself is rarely active these days (being the most famous geyser is hard work), its little brother Strokkur erupts every 5-8 minutes, and what a spectacle it is! Get your cameras ready and enjoy the view.
Last but not least, you will go on to Gullfoss, the "golden waterfall", one of the most powerful in Europe. Up to 130 000 liters per second are running down the cliffs. When the weather conditions are ideal, you can see the Langjökull glacier on the horizon as well.
After all the excitement, it is time for lunch. Iceland is well known for its use of geothermal energy and your next destination is a prime example of this. At the Friðheimar Tomato Farm, you will take a short walk through the greenhouse and afterward, you can enjoy their delicious meals as well. Please note, the lunch is not included in the tour price.
The day is still not over yet. After seeing how geothermal energy works, it is time to enjoy the relaxing waters as well. Your last stop, the Secret Lagoon ("Gamla Laugin") will definitely be something to enjoy. It was first opened in 1891 and is still a popular go-to place among the locals in the area. The temperature of the water is around 38-40° Celsius and this is the perfect way to end this great day.
