- Cultural tour with a mix of outdoor activity
- Pintxo and a drink included
Enjoy a scenic hike from San Sebastian to the fishing village of San Pedro on a 4-hour walk, following part of the famous St. James Way. Climb up Mt. Ulia along this medieval pilgrimage route, experiencing bird’s-eye views of San Sebastian that many visitors never see, and then walk across the clifftops to San Pedro. Finish with a seafood tapas tasting and drink here before driving back to San Sebastian.
Meet your guide at about 9am near the Kursaal Congress Centre at Zurriola beach in San Sebastian. Then, set off on your 2.5- to 3.5-hour hike: its duration depending on your walking pace.
Stroll along the seafront, and follow the pathway up through wooded Mt. Ulia to the east that forms part of the St. James Way (Camino de Santiago), the medieval pilgrimage route that leads to the shrine of St. James in Santiago de Compostela.
Savor the beautiful surroundings, and at the top, admire the phenomenal views over San Sebastian. Hear about Mt. Ulia’s history, learning how the watchtower at the summit was used to spot whales in the Bay of Biscay.
Next, walk over craggy clifftops and lush valleys, absorbing the spectacular sea views and ocean air. Pass the remains of a Roman-era aqueduct, and see the 19th-century La Plata lighthouse that once guided fishermen to port.
Descend through pine forests to San Pedro, a quintessential Basque fishing village. Stop to sample a local delicacy of seafood tapas at a café, teaming it with a wine, beer, soda or water.
Lastly, finish with a drive back to San Sebastian, where your 4-hour trip ends at the meeting point.
