What to expect
Learn how to build with the earth beneath your feet! When you join Earth Ayni for a workshop, you can expect to get covered in mud with some real hands-on learning. Discover a wide variety of natural building techniques using local, recycled, and low-cost materials. Water, coffee, tea, and a tasty vegetarian lunch will also be provided. The following topics will be covered:• Get your mud on! In this hands-on presentation you will learn how to build different types of earthen walls such as cob, adobe, and wattle and daub. You will also have the opportunity to talk with experts about foundations, artistic elements, roofing, permaculture, the installation of doors and windows, and more. • Fuego! Learn how to build 4 different kinds of cooking and heating systems: an earthen oven, a clay pot "barrel" oven, a compact traditional-style masonry heater, and a rocket stove. Finished examples of all of these systems are on site for viewing and firing.
