What to expect
Immerse yourself in one of the most important mangrove swamps in the Central American region! Explore its flora and fauna, learn about local livelihoods, and support a true local initiative of fair and responsible tourism!Enter the salt forest, the habitat of a great majority of coastal birds as well as a unique nesting site for them. This forest is a Biosphere Reserve and RAMSAR site, which has been running since 2007 and 2005 respectively. The Bay of Jiquilisco is where you will float along on this tour. Along the water route, you will visit 5 stations where you can learn about the plants and animals most representative of the salt forest as well as the livelihoods of local communities. Travel through beautiful mangrove tunnels where the six species of mangroves and the native and migratory birds, such as pink spatulas, spoon beak, white ibis, and raptors, can be seen.
