You will be going on an amazing excursion from Yerevan to Garni Temple, which is the only standing pagan temple in Armenia and all of the Caucasus. It dates back the 1st century A.D. The temple building contains a 3rd century Roman bathhouse, ruins of a 7th century Apostolic Armenian Church, ruins of a pre-Christian Summer Palace, the Founding Stone with a Greek inscription and an urartian cuneiform inscription dedicated to an Urartian king 8th B.C.
You will then continue your tour to Geghard Monastery that is included in UNESCO World heritage List. The monastery has been one of the eminent pilgrimage sites since medieval times. The name of the Monastery "Geghardavank" is derived from the Armenian word "geghard" that means "lance". The same lance that was used to stab Jesus during Crucifixion, and is now kept in the museum of Etchmiadin Cathedral.
After the visit in Geghardavank, you will move on to lake Sevan where you will have a boat ride about the lake and admire its unique beauty and colours. After the ride traveleres will go up Sevanavank monastery from where there opens a fantastic and gorgeous look over the lake from above.
