Enjoy a full-day trip from Calgary among the natural wonders of the area!
The first stop of your itinerary will be Lake Louise, a famous photo-taking location, named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta. Continue towards Moraine Lake (opens only from Mid-May to early October); will be replaced by Vermillion Lakes if closed), whose waters are of a vivid shade of turquoise that changes in intensity through the summer as the glacier melt. Set in the rugged Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and rock piles, creating a scene so stunning it almost seems unreal.
Then, reach the YOHO National Park. Named after a Cree expression of awe and wonder, Yoho lies on the Western slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Pass through the Spiral Tunnel, one of the most bizarre feats of engineering to get the grade of a train line to be at or below 2.2%. Stop at the suggestive Emerald Lake to relax and enjoy the view, and then head to the Natural Bridge, sculpted by the erosive forces of rushing water over what had once been a waterfall, a powerful reminder of how much influence water has in shaping the landscape.
