A mecca of modernist architecture and sporting glory, Barcelona is truly one of the world's great cities. And it's just a short trip down the road from the Costa Brava. You'll kick off your Barcelona city tour with an external view of the Sagrada Family basilica. Still a work in progress, the most famous creation of modernist architect Antoni Gaudi boasts elaborate façades that'll have you looking up all the time. Next, head to another Gaudi masterpiece – Park Güell – for a stroll around the public zone.
Afterwards, take in the panoramic views over Barcelona at Montjuic hill. The main stadium from the 1992 Olympics is here and you'll visit the site of the athletics events. You'll then have a couple of hours of free time in the centre. The Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, shopping in Portal de l'Angel – there's so much to do and see.
