Fancy yourself as a foodie? This trip has all the ingredients for one tastebud-tingling experience. Learn all about Lanzarote's love of cuisine with a small group tour and tasting session at several volcanic soil wineries, and visit a salt flat to try gourmet rock salt.
First up is Salinas de Janubio, the largest salt flats in the Canaries. Wander between the coral-coloured salt flats as your guide fills you in on the history of this important industry. Alongside their regular sea salt, you'll get to try flavoured varieties like sweet paprika, chimichurri and curry, and find out what dishes they pair well with.
You'll tour a number of volcanic soil wineries and taste some of the island's prized Malvasia wines, too. The bodegas are surrounded by scorched earth and lava fields, so you'd be forgiven for thinking nothing grows here. But the volcanic humidity in the soil helps vines thrive in this harsh climate. And there's no taste quite like wine made from grapes grown in the shadow of a volcano.
