This guided trek will take you from the São Jorge Valley, situated in Madeira's northside, through the Laurissilva Forest.
You'll walk along the Levada do Rei, a man-made canal part of a wider network of levadas, which thanks to gravity brings water from the northern side of the island to the South. Following this trail, you'll go through the São Jorge Valley and the Laurissilva Forest, a UNESCO-protected area, that plays an important role in maintaining the hydrological balance in Madeira.
During the walk, you'll admire a wide variety of plants and medicinal herbs, and your guide will explain the different healing properties of each one of them. This easy trekking, with a total length of 11 km, will also take you behind a waterfall to visit a paradise on earth.
