Un po' di storia
Il Souq Waqif è noto per la vendita di abiti tradizionali, spezie, artigianato e souvenir. Ospita anche decine di ristoranti e saloni di Shisha. Anche se risale ad almeno un centinaio di anni fa, è stato rinnovato nel 2006 per preservare il suo stile architettonico tradizionale del Qatar. È spesso percepito come l'unica zona di Doha che conserva un'atmosfera autentica, in particolare per quanto riguarda il commercio, l'architettura e la cultura. La zona è molto popolare sia tra i locali che tra gli stranieri (soprattutto nei fine settimana) perché offre diverse opzioni di ristorazione in uno stesso luogo.
