From its medieval manor beginnings, and subsequent restorations by Thomas Wolsey converting the building into a lavish Palace, Hampton Court is probably most famous for Henry VIII's occupation. With tales of banquets, hunting, sexual liaisons, treachery and treason and Royal marriages, the period was one of many fascinating passages in the Palace's rich and colourful timeline. Shakespeare performed in the great Hall, the King James Bible was commissioned in the state apartments, Queen Victoria opened the beautiful gardens to the public and General Eisenhower helped plot the Normandy landings here.
It is, quite simply, one of the finest Palaces in the world, and a must see on any trip to Britain. Join us for an exclusive private tour before the Palace opens to the public. Our local expert guide will take you behind the scenes and to parts of the building normally out of bounds to the public. It's popularity means the Palace can be very busy during the day - with Premium Tours you will experience Hampton Court away from the crowds.
Lunch at Stonehenge.
The most famous prehistoric monument in the world, and now a world heritage site, Stonehenge stands alone in the vast empty tract of Salisbury plain. Its origins date back nearly 5,000 years and it has been home to pagan religion and spiritual worship, not to be mention public debate ever since.
Then join us for a delicious picnic lunch in the recently opened cafe where you can enjoy a sandwich, or hot pie (Cornish pasty,) side salad, a bag of potato crisps, a tea or coffee and a delicious piece of homemade cake. The cafe is usually busy but don't worry we have our own fast track queue and it's all included in the price of the tour.
Georgian Bath
Bath is a beautiful Georgian city with delightful crescents, terraces and architecture. Following our panoramic tour of the city, there will be time to visit Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge overlooking the river Avon cascading over the weir. And you can shop, explore or take afternoon tea in the Pump Rooms while listening to the string quartet. There will even be time to visit the fabulous Roman Baths or the Jane Austen museum should you choose, before re-joining the coach and heading back to London. What a day!
