For three decades the checkpoint into the northern part of Cyprus remained closed to visitors – but now you can enjoy a day trip from Paphos and Limassol. You'll pass by the Venetian walls of Nicosia, on to Kyrenia to see a famous shipwreck and enjoy some free time at its historic harbour, before ending the day at the Bellapais Abbey.
Leaving Paphos behind, you'll travel towards the Ayios Dometios checkpoint, pausing for a quick coffee en route. Once we're across the bufferzone into the northern part of Cyprus, you'll witness traditional scenes.
Your guide will bring its 800-year history to life with a tour around the grounds and you'll be captivated by the views plunging down to Kyrenia, which is our next stop. Here, you'll have free time to explore the seaside town as well as the shipwreck museum. From here, you'll travel through bucolic countryside, winding through the Pentadakytlos Mountains to reach the Bellapais Abbey, before returning south.
