De Berlinische Galerie is een van de nieuwste musea in de Duitse hoofdstad en verzamelt kunst uit Berlijn vanaf 1870 tot heden . Naast de vaste collectie biedt het Staatsmuseum voor Moderne Kunst, Fotografie en Architectuur een gevarieerd programma met bijzondere tentoonstellingen.
Het Staatsmuseum, opgericht in 1975, heropende in 2004 zijn eigen gebouw dicht bij het Joods Museum en verhuisde naar een ruime industriële hal die is herbouwd tot 4.600 vierkante meter tentoonstellingsruimte.
