A newcomer to the holiday trail, a boat trip on Lake Komani has earned itself a reputation as one of the Balkans' most scenic experiences. This trip takes you cruising across Albania's most beautiful body of water, surrounded by the green peaks of the Accursed Mountains. Expect sunshine, luxuriant landscapes and swimming in a turquoise-coloured river.
It's an early start to the day as you journey north through the Albanian countryside. After a coffee stop midway through the drive, we'll skirt the scenic shores of Vau I Dejes Dam before finally arriving at Komani Harbour.
Cruise across the lake and let the jagged and tree-clad Accursed Mountains transport you a world away from 21st century Europe. From here, you'll head to the village of Komani, where you'll head inside a traditional countryside house to see what Albanian hospitality is all about. Afterwards, it's on to the River Shala. Drifting by rugged rock formations and reed beds, the crew will drop anchor at a remote bay so you can swim, sunbathe and soak up the scenery. Then, after a few hours of relaxing, it's time to return to Durrës.
