In the morning, your guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Bordeaux and go over the program and itinerary of the day with you. Then, you'll board your premium comfortable, air conditioned vehicle and begin to make your way to the Medoc wine producing region. Flanking the town of Pauillac, some of France’s most acclaimed vineyards cover the eastern side of the Médoc peninsula. This area is home to many fabulous castles, including Château Margaux, Château Latour and Château Mouton Rothschild, which will make for the perfect photo opportunity! The region also boasts over 60 miles of sandy beaches. A highlight of the region is the Gironde estuary: formed from the convergence of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, it is home to a monument that is known as the ‘Versailles’ of lighthouses.
You'll visit 3 wine estates of your choice that are ranked as Grand Cru, classified growth Château or cru bourgeois estates. The Medoc appellation includes 400 different wine producers resulting in wines that have a wide variety of textures and flavors. Margaux wines have a distinctive fragrant taste, due to the high gravel content of the soil. Saint Julien wines are known to be tannic, powerful and while the wines produced in Pauillac are generally are rich, full bodied and stern. At each winery, your WSET certified guide will introduce you to their history and winemaking traditions, complete with a guided and commented wine tasting session. In between visits, you'll enjoy some free time for lunch in Pauillac or St Julien. At the end of the day, you'll be dropped off at your accomodation in Bordeaux.
