Ancient Lycian tour of Cadianda, Tlos and Saklikent with lunch
The land of ancient Lycia lies pinched between the Mediterranean coast and the soaring Taurus Mountains of southwest Türkiye. You'll visit three spots that show off the region's top archaeological and natural sights by minibus on this exclusive small-group tour with just 14 guests. After being picked up from your hotel, you'll head to Üzümlü village in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. It's the gateway to the ancient city of Cadianda. You'll spend 45 minutes exploring what's left of Cadianda's earliest settlements, a stadium, theatre, baths and temples that date back to around 1,000 BC. After seeing this slice of history set in a quiet pine forest, your next stop is the more dramatic landscape of Tlos. Here, you'll find the iconic cliff-cut Lycian tombs rising out of the hillside as well as the Ottoman fortress sitting at the summit. Half an hour by minibus from there and you'll arrive at Gizlikent Şelalesi. A traditional lunch of mezze and casserole is served at a restaurant right by the waterfall, where your group will sit at tables set among the trees. After you've refuelled, it's on to our final stop, Saklıkent Gorge. You'll have over an hour at the gorge to check out the base of this 300-metre-deep limestone canyon. The tour comes full circle as you hear how the gorge shaped ancient Lycian life four thousand years ago. It's around an hour and a half to two hours back on the minibus, returning to your hotel at around 6.00pm.
