Girona has been likened to a guidebook writer's dream, thanks to its elegant looks and plethora of age-old sights. It's a charming, smaller-scale city with 2,000 years of history that boasts a whole host of museums and old streets and squares to discover.
You'll get to see it for yourself on a walking tour around the city. You'll start by snaking your way through the labyrinthine El Call, the ancient Jewish quarter that's characterised by arched alleyways and narrow corridors. Plus, you'll have time to capture photos of the Gothic cathedral's stained-glass windows – if you're a Game of Thrones fan, you'll recognise the steps – as well as the pastel-painted houses that line up along the River Onyar.
Afterwards, you'll have some free time to explore under your own steam or perhaps head towards the shops where you'll find everything from traditional stores to designer boutiques selling unique jewellery, handicrafts, antiques, delicatessen products and more.
