Travel back in time to discover the Vietnam of a bygone era, with centuries-old architecture in the form of brick/mud houses and an unhurried lifestyle.
After a 1.5-hour drive (55 km) northwest of Hanoi, you'll arrive in the traditional village of Duong Lam, where you'll be welcomed by a family living in a four-hundred-year-ancient house located in the heart of the Red River Delta. A short walk will then bring you to discover the village's communal house and the pagoda – fine examples of Northern Vietnamese architecture. Nothing will beat a locally sourced, traditionally made lunch at one of the residences, the home of a family calling Duong Lam their home for generations.
Coming back to the capital, you'll stop at the Temple of Literature. Founded in 1070 during the Ly Dynasty and dedicated to Confucius, it was also the site of Vietnam's first university. Last but not least, you'll end your day with a Water Puppet Show performance, a unique Vietnamese tradition dating back to the 11th century.
