Drive into L’Aventure du sucre and cane fields. The journey starts at ‘L’Aventure du Sucre’ Museum, takes you through the countless trails from the sugar cane fields to the magnificent Mauricia estate and its majestic tree driveway planted with Intendance. The history of Mauritius is linked to the sugar industry and its footprint is visible throughout this two-wheeled journey. Accompanied by the guide, the journey continues through the fields, and take a short break to admire a magnificent panorama on the mountain range of Pouce and Pieter Both and the islands of northern Mauritius. Then, drive to the colonial house of Villebague, the former residence of Mahé de La Bourdonnais, where you will picnic in the shade of century-old trees in the garden. The interior of the colonial house can be visited on request and according to availability.
On the way back, drink over a delicious tea at an inhabitant’s place, Arline, who reserves us a warm welcome. Then, you will start a short walk in the historic district of Pamplemousses where you will visit the church of Saint-François, the presbytery, the old cemetery, the slave pool or the must-see Botanical Garden.
