This afternoon tour shines the spotlight on the real Espargos, as seen through the eyes of a local. You'll kick off with a tour to three historical spots, then have a drink in a bar before the main event – a traditional dinner with live music at a local's house.
You'll be taken to Sal's capital, Espargos, for an afternoon of culture, history and some traditional food. A walking tour will introduce you to the city's history at three stops – the first airport on the island, the first hotel and the first sanitation place. You'll drop in a local bar for a drink, where some old photos of Espargos and Sal will be on display.
Once you've worked up an appetite, you'll be welcomed into a local's house for dinner. You'll be told how all the dishes are made, which includes catchupa – a type of Cape Verdean stew with either fish, chicken or vegetables. Live music will add to the atmosphere, too. Any leftover food will then be offered to a family in need.
