What to expect

From the hidden "Caldera" beach on Santorini's southern curve, expert dive instructors will equip you with snorkelling gear and safety guidelines. After an introduction to the environment and marine life of Santorini's sea, the diving team will guide you into the water to gently glide over the terrain of verdant Posidonia meadows and dramatic rock formations. You'll uncover the distinctive life that resides in this unusual underwater caldera landscape, exploring a world beyond typical dimensions.

Posidonia seagrass, which can live for over 100,000 years if left undisturbed , radiates an aura of otherworldly majesty. Recently acknowledged as a vital life source for the Mediterranean, it's something everyone should get excited about. Posidonia supports thousands of sea creatures as a home, nursery and food source. It's not seaweed but seagrass - absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen just like terrestrial plants. Unique to the Mediterranean, it spans vast stretches of coastline and is even visible from space. It stores massive amounts of carbon, making it a 'blue carbon' source. Moreover, it safeguards beaches from swell and contributes significantly to beach architecture and ecology.
