This half-day trip whisks you off by coach to the town of Heidelberg. This place has both brains and beauty under its belt – it's home to one of Germany's most reputable universities, which is surrounded by picture-perfect streets scattered with grand period houses, pretty little shops and fountain-filled squares. You'll head straight for the town's main attraction – the impressive, hillside castle – for a guided tour. Learn about its royal and military history, take in the views over the rooftops and check out the wine barrel in the cellar – as the biggest in the world, it can hold over 200,000 litres of wine.
