River Cruises Collection: Kalocsa City Tour

Spices and sightseeing are the name of the game on this trip, which takes you around the historic Hungarian city of Kalocsa. After a 20-minute drive from the port, you’ll arrive in the pretty centre to pay a visit to the Kalocsa Cathedral. The first version of this church was built way back in 1050, and the current Baroque structure has been around since the 1700s. Next, you’ll visit one of the city’s signature sights – the Paprika House. This place tells the story of Kalocsa’s ‘red gold’ as paprika has been grown here for centuries, and you’ll learn just why the city’s so famous for the spice. To wrap up, there’s a dose of culture at the Folk Art House. This thatched cottage shows how people lived in years gone by, and also has traditional multicoloured embroidery on show. At the end of the trip, you’ll be driven back to port.
