The tour starts from Marienplatz, the square which represents the most important historical, commercial and pedestrian area of Munchen, the true heart of the city. From here you can watch the spectacle of the famous carillon of the Neues Rathaus, with its 43 bells and 32 copper statues dancing to the rhythm of music.
The tour continues along the pedestrian zone to the Duomo (Frauenkirche) dating from the late Gothic period, with its two Renaissance domes copper, symbol of the city. Continuing to Odeonsplatz crossing the luxury shopping center of five courtyards, with its ceiling of natural plants created by the famous Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron, the authors of the project of Allianz Arena.
From the loggia of the commanders of Odeonsplatz, continue along the famous Ludwig Strasse, commissioned by King Ludwig I in the Italian Renaissance style, where you come to the university district of Schwabing and the Siegestor (Victory Gate). Along the way you can admire the beautiful Church of Teatini completely inspired by the early Italian Baroque. A tiny jumping in the Hofgarten (court garden) allows you to see the whole north facade of Residenz (ducal and royal palace) of the dynasty Witteslbach, where monarchs lived until 1918.
Through several courtyards of the Residenz, you get to Marstallplatz (Opera Square). In neoclassical style, the reconstruction of this building has been remarkably faithful to the original nucleus of the nineteenth century. The theater was reopened in 1963. After a few steps from the shop windows of the Maximilianstrasse, the "Via Montenapoleone of Monaco", you get to the most famous brewery in the city, the Hofbrauhaus, where are stapled on average 12,000 liters of beer a day. Crossing the Viktualienmarkt, with its wide choice of exotic fruits, fresh fish, spices from all over the world and local crafts, you arrive in Sankt-Jakobs-Platz, home to the synagogue and the Jewish Museum.
The last stop of the tour touches the ancient Sendlinger Tor (dating from the early fourteenth century) and the Asamkirche, the church dedicated to the story of the martyrdom of St. John of Nepomuk. Its Rococco decoration is very charming and unique.
Finally after a walk along the Sendlingerstrasse you will return again to Marienplatz.
