Reggio Calabria is located in the heart of the Mediterranean, between the sea and the mountain. It is a land full of perfumes and colors. Formally known as "Calabria Ulteriore Prima", the province of Reggio Calabria has the highest population density in the region.A characteristic feature of the province is the area of the Tyrrhenian coast, with the terraces built on the hillsides over the sea. This "stretch" is called Costa Viola, due to the reflexes colors of sunset on the sea.
Much of the area of Reggio Calabria is made up of the Aspromonte National Park, with acres of pine forests on the Tyrrhenian side and Ionian beeches.
