Your tour will start from Piazza Castello, where you can enter the interior of the steps of Palazzo Madama (religious functions permitting). Then you will venture to the baroque church of San Lorenzo where you will have the opportunity to see a true copy of the Holy Shroud. So through the courtyard of the Royal Palace you will arrive in the square that overlooks the Cathedral and the Renaissance during the Porte Palatine Roman times.
Trace the route of the ancient Roman Cardo as you reach Via Garibaldi, which was a gated area in the time of Augusta Taurinorum. Today this area is one of the main shopping streets of Turin! Here you will go through the ancient Contrada of Guardinfanti, whose road network has still kept its medieval feel. From there you will go on to Via Pietro Micca, a beautiful street characterized by fine Art Nouveau buildings, to return to Castle Square.
Passing under the arcades of Via Roma you will get a sense of the elegant "city lounge" of Piazza San Carlo. Your tour will continue to Via Maria Vittoria, before reaching the famous Egyptian Museum and later in the Baroque Piazza Carignano. In this square you can admire the Teatro Carignano, one of the most important theaters in the city center. Here you can enjoy a delicious stop at the historic Café Pepino, renowned for its "ice-cream walking."
Before returning to Castle Square, you will cross the courtyard of Palazzo Carignano to make your way to the Museum of the Risorgimento, Piazza Carlo Alberto and Gallery Subalpina.
If you do not stop for ice cream break, you might have sufficient time to reach the Mole Antonelliana and return to Castle Square.
