Explore Speyer, a historic city on the banks of the Rhine. Your day begins at Speyer Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Europe. Admire its symmetrical towers and impressive design as you visit this landmark.
You'll then join a guided walking tour through the old town. With 11 churches within the city, Speyer has a strong religious heritage reflected in its monuments. You'll see the Memorial Church of the Protestation and other notable buildings, discovering a variety of architectural styles and artworks.
After the guided tour, you'll have some free time to stroll through the city at your own pace, enjoy lunch, or visit Speyer's second UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ShUM Sites.
Next, you'll head to the Rhine riverbank and board a boat for a 1.5-hour round trip along the Rhine and the Old Rhine. Relax and take in views of the river landscape and Speyer from the water. After the cruise, you'll walk with your guide along the Rhine before returning to Heidelberg.
