This tour packs in all of Gran Canaria's must-sees – volcanic landscapes, mountain villages and more. You'll tick off the towns of Tejeda and Teror, and an aloe vera plantation. David, one of our local guides, says, ‘This is one of my favourite tours. It's got villages, volcanoes and local products. It's the grand slam. But what I most enjoy telling is the legend of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Teror. It changed the island forever.'
First, you'll delve into the valleys and mountains of the interior, and it all starts at Degollada de las Yeguas viewpoint. Next, head to an aloe vera plantation to get the lowdown on its medicinal properties. Generations of islanders have used extracts from the plant for skin ailments. Then, it's on to the flower-festooned, whitewashed village of Tejeda. David adds, ‘Every time there's a list of Spain's prettiest villages, Tejeda is located in a prominent position. Its setting is unbeatable.'
It's onto equally beautiful Las Lagunetas for lunch next. Enjoy a typical Canarian meal made from locally sourced ingredients in a family-owned restaurant. From here, Teror beckons. To stroll past its balconied homes towards the mountain-framed basilica of Our Lady of the Pine is one of the defining Gran Canaria experiences. And to round off the day, there's a stop at the volcanic Tirajanas crater.
What is the itinerary for this experience?
This trip can follow a couple of different itineraries, depending on which language you choose to take the tour in.
This experience is led by a German-speaking guide:- 8:15am to 9:00am – pick-up from your hotel
- 9:00am to 9:25am – transfer to Las Yeguas viewpoint and photo stop
- 9:25am to 10:10am – transfer to aloe vera farm and 30-minute visit
- 10:10am to 10:40am – transfer to Fataga town and 20-minute visit
- 10:40am to 10:55am – transfer to Mirador de las Tirajanas and photo stop
- 10:55am to 11:50am – transfer from Fataga to Tejeda
- 11:50am to 12:20pm – arrival to Tejeda town and 30-minute visit
- 12:20pm to 2:10pm – transfer to Las Lagunetas and 90-minutes for lunch in Tierra Guanche
- 2:10pm to 3:35pm – transfer to Teror with 45-minute visit in the town
- 3:35pm to 5:15pm – transfer back to your hotel
