Just minutes from Passeig de Gràcia, the Museu Tàpies connects the Modernista Barcelona of Lluís Domènech i Montaner – alongside Gaudí, one of the great masters of Catalan Modernisme – with the contemporary Barcelona of Antoni Tàpies. Housed in one of the Eixample's first Modernista buildings, just a stone's throw from Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, it offers a unique experience where architecture, heritage and contemporary art engage in a dialogue within the same space.
Created by Antoni Tàpies to preserve and disseminate his legacy, the museum invites visitors to explore the evolution of his work through exhibitions that trace the various stages of his artistic career, alongside a programme of temporary exhibitions featuring prominent Catalan and international artists.
The visit is complemented by unique spaces – such as the specialist library – and by Núvol i cadira (Cloud and Chair), the iconic sculpture crowning the building that has become one of the museum's most recognisable symbols.
