If you’ve already explored the ruins of Chichen Itza and have gotten your fill of the best cenotes the Yucatan peninsula has to offer, this full-day tour in the Rio Lagartos Biosphere Reserve and the pink lakes of Las Coloradas might just be up your alley!
The day’s adventure will begin with an early pickup from your hotel in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. From there, you’ll make your way to the busy town of Valladolid for a cup of coffee and a snack. After this brief stop, you’ll head to Rio Lagartos. Once there, you’ll skip the crowds and board a private boat to enjoy the scenery of the reserve on your own. Rio Lagartos is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve home to a rich diversity of landscapes and ecosystems such as mangroves, forests, lagoons and more!
Cruise around the reserve with your friendly guide, who will point out the numerous local flora and fauna, maybe even catching glimpses of flamingos, pelicans, sea turtles and crocodiles to name a few. You’ll also snap a few photos at the Instagrammable pink lakes at Las Coloradas before a stop for lunch (not included) and start your way back to your hotel.
