Mirabello Bay Boat Cruise
The villages and islets of northwestern Mirabello Bay are the stars of this exclusive full day excursion. The short boat trip from Plaka to Spinalonga is one many took only once. Centuries of history are buried within the walls that encircle this former leper colony, which led to it being dubbed the ‘Isle of Tears'. A guided walk will show you around this old Venetian fortress. You'll then sail back to Plaka. After some free time to explore this pretty port, head inland to the whitewashed village of Fourni to learn about olive oil production. Drop into a taverna here for a traditional Cretan lunch washed down with local wine.

Highlights of the West
Western Crete boasts wonderful local produce and spectacular beaches. And this excursion showcases the area's best bits. Start the day with some culture on a guided visit to a local winery. There's a feast for your taste buds with a wine tasting session, accompanied by local snacks. Next, learn how olives are grown and the oil is pressed at one of Crete's primary producers, Biolea. Spend the afternoon relaxing on Falassarna beach, whose powdery white sands and the crystal-clear waters have earned it special protection under the EU's Natura 2000 programme.
