What to expect

Dubrovnik, one of the world's greatest maritime republics, is best experienced from the water.

You'll join some professional kayaking tour guides for an excursion around the Old Town walls and Lokrum island, a favorite of the Game of Thrones cast.

In addition to enjoying the fresh air and beauty of the city, you'll paddle a 4.5 km course and learn about Dubrovnik's history. You'll discover the legend around Lokrum Island's historical landmarks and curse, unwind in a secret beach cave, and view the opulent "Beverly Hills" district and Europe's first quarantine zone.

Don't forget to take pictures, while you enjoy the views of Dubrovnik's Old Town.

Meeting point:

The meeting location for your tour is outside the Old Town, immediately in front of the entrance to the Official Dubrovnik Tourist Information Center, on Pile Square. Please arrive 20 minutes before the beginning of the tour for check-in and a safety briefing. Your guide will be carrying a green (NOT ORANGE) umbrella and identify themselves as a member of the Adventure Dubrovnik team. Please pay attention to the address. There is a second Tourist Information Center inside the Old Town. This is the wrong place. If you don't see cars or buses next to you, you are not in front of the Official Tourist Information Center. Please beware of vendors who illegally sell and who often try to cheat or divert guests.

What to remember

This tour runs with a maximum of 15 travelers
Minimum age is 12 years old. Travelers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult
It's not recommended for people who come from out of town to book a same day kayak tour, as traffic is often delayed
This tour can be done by people of all ages, who are in reasonably fit shape. No prior experience is necessary
Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level. Not recommended for travelers with back problems, for pregnant women and for people with heart problems or other serious medical conditions
Prior to the start, you'll be given a full safety briefing and a short lesson in kayaking. You'll also be provided a life jacket and waterproof barrels to bring along personal items
2-seater kayaks are provided by default. Individual travelers without partners are paired up with other individuals. If a pairing cannot be made, the individual without a partner will be assigned to a single kayak. Single kayaks are otherwise subject to limited availability and require approval upon request
Subject to suitable weather, sea conditions and a minimum amount of travelers. Tour time and/or route may vary, if canceled due to poor weather and/or sea conditions, you'll be given the option of an alternative date or a full refund
You'll be served ham and cheese sandwiches, vegetarian sandwich (with cheese) is also available if the tour operator is told at least 2 hours in advance. For people with extreme food allergies, fresh fruit is available (usually an apple and two bananas)
Alcohol is served on this tour, consumers of alcohol must be at least 18 years of age
An outdoor shower and changing booths are available on site

Instead of taking on the bustling streets under your own steam, you can sit back and relax in a three-wheeled tuk tuk, with a local guide putting in the legwork.You'll set off at 5:30pm on this evening tour and head north to the Franjo Tuđman Bridge. This modern structure spans the Rijeka Dubrovačka and gives you the perfect vantage point over Lapad Bay and the surrounding islands and mountains. From here, you get a real sense of contrast, standing on a contemporary cable-stayed bridge, overlooking Dubrovnik's centuries-old architecture.As the sun begins to set, your tuk tuk driver's legs get pumping. You'll zigzag your way uphill, out of the city, to Mount Srd for some of the best views away from the crowds. From here, the domes, towers and ancient stone walls of Dubrovnik look all the more dramatic in the sun's last haze of purple and orange before it dips below the horizon.
