Excursions & day trips
The hills of Ischia have long been one of the favourite escapes of Italians. After pick-up, you'll enjoy a scenic, meandering drive along the southern slopes of Mt Epomeo. Pass through Barano d'Ischia, a series of scattered hamlets, and onto Serrara Fontana. It's a mishmash of peeling pastel-coloured housed and dinky churches. There's a one-hour stop at the next village – Sant'Angelo, whose narrow, steep streets are laden with ice cream parlours and ceramic shops. Then, it's on towards Forio. It boasts a profusion of architectural styles – think whitewashed churches and stone watchtowers.
