Welcome to Hagia Sophia, where 1500 years of Christian and Islamic history can be seen side-by-side.

Once the great cathedral of Constantinople and later an imperial mosque of the Ottoman Empire, this former center of worship for Christians and Muslims is now a unique museum for the world. Today it is a must-see landmark to witness the history of the civilization!

Wonder at the incredible height of the famous dome and the amazing architecture, see the glittering remains of the original gold mosaics, and learn about the history of this icon of Istanbul.

Meeting point:

The tour starts from the stop of the BusForUs (Red Double Decker Busses) touristic buses in the Sultanahmet Square, approximately 50 meters in front of the Hagia Sophia Museum. The Sultanahmet Square can be reached via the T1 Tram Line. Your guide carries a flag with the logo of Istanbul Tourist Pass.

What to remember

Children (age 0-4) can join the activity for free
Guides can not enter the mosque with you so this attractionONLY covers a guided tour in front of the Hagia Sophia entrance.
Entrance tickets will be provided ONLY by the tour guide
The entrance ticket ONLY gives access to the 2nd-floor visitor areas but not to the prayer area.
Kindly note that due to these adjustments, there might be longer queues as the number of visitors will be limited.
Children will be asked to present their passports at the entrance to confirm their age.
Remember to wear modest clothing (arms and legs covered). Women must cover their hair with a scarf. If you forget to bring your own scarf, you can buy one before you enter.
The mosque is only open for half a day on the first day of Ramadan and the Sacrifice Festivals.
