If you're after a splash of something different, but don't want to commit a whole day, then jump on this mini cruise to some of the most sought-after beaches on the island. Teguise Sunday Market Trip

More than 360 stalls cram into Teguise's pretty plaza and cobbled streets on market day. So, shoppers will be spoilt for choice with this half-day trip to the island's most popular Sunday market. Expect tables creaking with local foodstuffs, jewellery, paintings and handicrafts. What's more, it's all given a carnival atmosphere by Canarian dancers, hair braiders and panpipe bands.

Timanfaya volcanic tour

This half-day tour is Lanzarote in a nutshell. You'll call in at El Golfo lagoon, journey through Timanfaya National Park and visit the Salinas de Janubio. There's also a sample of local wine to round off the tour.First up, you'll visit the waters of El Golfo - it's emerald waters have starred in many a Hollywood film over the years. But that's just an appetiser for the main event – the visit to Timanfaya National Park. You'll sail on a superfast boat off the coast of Puerto del Carmen and search for dolphins, and then watch the sun sink into the horizon. What's more, sparkling wine and pastries are included.
