The inside story
Built in the 13th century, the Grote of Jacobijnerkerk (Great or Jacobin Church) is the oldest church and building in Leeuwarden and is well worth a visit when in the city. Inside, you can enjoy a range of statues, stained glass windows, as well as the royal crypt. Music lovers can feast their eyes on the main organ that was built by the Amsterdam organ builder Christian Müller! Today, the church holds a service once a week and the space is used for conferences, concerts, meetings, lectures and parties.
