In the heart of Old Lyon and in the prestigious 16th century setting of the "Maison des Avocats", this museum, unique in France, allows you to discover two rare and unusual expressions: the art of cinematic special effects and the magic of miniatures.
Enter the vast sets that were used for filming and discover a rich collection of authentic objects from the biggest European and American film studios. Seven educational rooms illustrated with miniatures, animatronics, masks, prosthetics, robots, costumes, creatures and monsters of all kinds reveal many secrets about the special effects techniques used in the cinema. From Mrs. Doubtfire to Stuart Little, including Gladiator and Gremlin's, more than 450 mythical pieces of film are on display throughout this dive into the very secret backstage of cinema.
Then admire, exclusively in Lyon, the complete collection of Dan Ohlmann's miniature scenes. Faithful reproductions on a 1/12th scale of living spaces, his micro-sceneries are amazingly realistic and are surrounded by more than 1,000 masterpieces of patience and dexterity created by miniature artists from around the world.
