If Malta's medieval cities are beautiful by day, wait till you see them at night. Thanks to clever lighting, the beige sandstone takes on brilliant golden hues that light up the evening. You'll explore Valletta's Grand Harbour and the inland town of Mdina under the stars.
Drive round the bastions of Valletta and stop at the Waterfront for some free time to enjoy a nice walk along the harbour. You'll be able to view the fortifications of the three cities right across from the quays. The capital is famed for its beautiful baroque architecture ever since the rule of Grand Master Pinto in the mid-18th century.
You'll then head inland to walled Mdina, also known as the ‘Silent City'. Lamplit at night, you'll see it from a distance gleaming in the darkness of the countryside. Trace its history through the cobbled streets and well-preserved churches and palaces.
