Loagan Bunut which centers around Sarawak’s Largest natural lake, is the one of the most unusual aquatic ecosystems in Malaysia. The lake normally covers an area of approximately 65 hectares. However when the water level in the adjacent Tnjar river is low, the shallow lake can drain completely, leaving a huge expanse of dried and cracked mud.
When in season, you have a chance to observe the unique 'Selambau' fishing technique by the Berawan tribe. The Begawan fishermen are locals who developed this fishing technique, whereby they use huge scoop nets to catch the migrating fish found in the lake. These nets will be mounted on huge rafts, which will be positioned in the direction of the water flow. Hence, fishes will literally be scooped out of the water as they enter and leave the lake.

- Pick-up is available within city centre hotels. Pick-up outside of the said area may incur additional charges.
- Please specify at the Payment section if you would like a Chinese speaking guide (subjected to availability).
- Water levels at the Loagan Bunut Lake fluctuates according to the dry and wet seasons. The lake is completely dry during the dry season, normally occurs two to four times a year, in February and in late May or early June/July. During the dry season, lake cruises are not available.
- Additional tipping of RM10 per pax is not inclusive.
