If the Mekong Delta's maze of lakes and rivers are the lifeblood of Vietnam, then Saigon is its beating heart. This two-day tour calls by the famous Cu Chi war tunnels and Ho Chi Minh City, before taking you through rice paddies.
Catching a plane to the mainland, you'll head down the Mekong Delta. A far cry from the buzzing cities, it's a haven for rare plants, birds and wildlife. Wandering village paths, you'll see traditional sampan boats glide downstream. Then, after sampling honey tea with the locals, you'll stop by a coconut candy factory to see how it's made.
Overnighting in a hotel, you'll switch to a speedboat and head to the Cu Chi war tunnels. Digging deep into the past, you'll explore this sprawling network built as hiding spots during the Vietnam War by the Viet Cong. After lunch, it's on to Ho Chi Minh City – formerly Saigon – for a guided tour of its top sights, including the General Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. Shop at Ben Thanh Market before catching the flight back.
