The basilica turned precisely 1700 years old in 2023 and on our tour you’ll learn about its rich history, its trials and its glories, as well as read into the symbolism of the stunning mosaics and other artwork that adorn its interior. This St. John Lateran tour also takes in the Church of the Holy Steps just across the road. Here, pilgrims are invited to climb the steps on their knees in order to obtain Partial Indulgence upon certain conditions. It must be noted however that there will not be time to partake in this tradition during the tour.
