Every old city has its dark legends and mystery stories and Stockholm is no exception. When the Old Town quiets down at sunset, mystic shadows start lurking in the dark alleyways.
Come on a lantern-lit walk stopping by some of the city's most haunted places. You'll first pay a visit to Stockholm´s oldest ghost, a French monk called Gideon whose intention had been to baptize the northern pagans and whose body was washed ashore on Riddarholm island after a stormy night more than 1000 years ago.
Then walk over a few medieval cemeteries and past several sites where gruesome murders took place. Naturally, you'll stop by the central Stortorget square, which has witnessed many executions, but none of them quite like the Stockholm bloodbath whose 500th anniversary was celebrated in 2020.
You will also hear stories of the specters that supposedly still inhabit the foundations of the Royal Palace, making some of the King's own guests feel a bit uncomfortable at times and the story of the White Lady and the Gray Man. To top it off have a look at a petrified werecat above a doorway on the main street and listen to his amazing story.
