Tui: Attractions, tours and tickets

You’ll find the trendy little town of Tui nestled in the Spanish autonomous community of Galicia, right on the edge of Portugal’s northernmost border. Choosing Tui as the base for your holiday to Spain puts you within a 35-minute drive of the area’s most populous city, Vigo, as well as the Medieval masterpiece that is Pontevedra. 1. Walk a portion of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route

The Camino de Santiago – also known as the Way of St James – sees thousands of pilgrims flock to this part of Spain from all over the world. The end point is the shrine of St James at the Cathedral of Santiago de Campostela. A portion of the route weaves through Tui, so strolling along it yourself is a great way of getting to know the town and see some of the sights.

2. Pop into Portugal by crossing the Ponte Internacional Tui-Valenca

Tui’s position on Portugal’s northern border puts you in the prime place to tick off two countries during your visit. Tui and the Portuguese town of Valenca are conveniently linked by this bridge, which stretches over the Minho River and serves up some pretty scenic views of the tree-wrapped riverbanks.

3. Explore Tui’s Jewish Quarter

The town’s Jewish Quarter has been around since the 15th century, making it the perfect place to really dig into the area’s history. Aside from its beautiful architecture and hefty restaurant scene, the main draw here is the Diocesan Museum, which is loaded with exhibits that show off the history and culture of Jewish communities that have lived in this part of Spain for centuries – some of the artefacts here even date back to the days of the Spanish Inquisition.
