Introducing Ufa
Situated at the confluence of the Belaya and Ufa rivers, in the centre-north of Bashkortostan, Ufa is the largest city of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia. The city was originally founded in 1574, when a fortress was built by order of Ivan the Terrible, and later expanded in the 20th century. Today, Ufa has up to 1.4 million residents with a diverse population including Muslim Turkic peoples called Bashkirs.
Wander through the streets of the city and stop at the National museum of Republic to discover the culture and natural history exhibits. Enter The Bashkir Nesterov Art Museum to see its collection including works by David Burliuk, Alexey Kuznetsov, Ilya Repin, Mikhail Vrubel, Ivan Aivazovsky, Valentin Serov, Isaac Levitan, Alexei Savrasov and Boris Kustodiev. Then, admire Lala Tulpan - one of Russia's largest mosques with 53-metre-tall twin minarets.
Traveling with children? Stop at the family-friendly Park Imeni Ivana Yakutova. This amusement park features rides, a children's railway, an entertainment complex and a lake with boats.
