First up is the grand Achilleion Palace. This neoclassical hilltop retreat has sweeping Ionian Sea views, was built for Empress Sisi of Austria and is inspired by Greek mythology. As you tour the manicured gardens, you'll spot its iconic Achilles statues dotted about. You might also recognise it as a filming location from the James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only.
You'll duck into a kumquat distillery to see how the island's citrus fruit is used in local drinks, before heading to the seaside village of Paleokastritsa. Your lunch is included here and you'll still have plenty of free time to explore the monastery or wander down to the bay below. Pause at Bella Vista viewpoint for the enviable panoramas, then round off your trip with a visit to Makrades. It's a traditional hillside village above Paleokastritsa where you can browse artisan shops and enjoy views across Corfu's dramatic west coast.
