With no less than 2,000 years of history behind it, Girona needs to be seen to be believed. And it's a two-for-one on must-do's on this tour. You'll head into the centre of the city for a guided walk, exploring its medieval streets and squares, before heading to the Espai Gironès to shop to your heart's content. It's a perfect blend of old and new.
It all begins in Girona – nicknamed 'The Immortal City' as a tribute to its storied past. Start by snaking your way through the labyrinthine El Call, the ancient Jewish quarter that's characterised by arched alleyways and narrow corridors. You'll have time to capture photos of the Gothic cathedral's stained-glass windows – if you're a Game of Thrones fan, you'll recognise the steps – as well as the pastel-painted houses that line up along the River Onyar.
After a lesson in Spanish heritage, it's time to hit the shops. With all the usual names in fashion, electronics and home goods, you'll have free time to browse. And if you're peckish, there's a food court with both international and Spanish cuisine, as well as a kids zone and free WiFi.
